Langtang Valley, also known as the Valley of Glaciers has been a tourist destination trek in the Langtang region of Nepal. With numerous mountains at a distance and the icy glaciers at your disposal, the natural scene that Langtang Valley Trek possesses is remarkable. From Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,234m) to Dorje Lakpa (6,966m) to Nya Kanga Ri (5,746m) the trek to the uncharted Langtang Valley is surely going to be the trek of a lifetime. The beauty of the Nepali, as well as the Tibetan ranges, can be observed throughout the trek with the picturesque view of the area. Trekkers will also enjoy the cultural and ethnics biodiversity as we pass through several villages and observe their unique lifestyle and culture.
Trek to the Langtang Valley is relatively easy. It is a perfect for novice trekkers. However, we do suggest caution as we will be trekking as high as 4,250m and above. Acclimatization is one of the things should be done to adjust to the high altitude. Prior trekking experience can be an asset and high stamina is something that is must. The most suitable time to venture on this epic journey is during the Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November).
Langtang region of Nepal is one of the most striking places on earth. This journey to the western Nepal shows for one of the best views of the mountains and landscape that one can ask for. The closer view of the mountains, cultural richness of the region is one of the reasons why Langtang has become a very popular destination for internal and international tourist alike.
Situated just 19km North of Kathmandu, Langtang valley is situated in the Langtang National Park, one of the most protected natural reserves for the wildlife, with an area of 1,710 sq. km. As we move through this national park, we get to view some of the greatest views of mountain and hills that nature has to offer. The rich vegetation, high altitude forests as well as the icy glaciers are some of the things that will keep you at bay.
Volunteer International Nepal is a social organization which aims at reducing the level of social stigma that society faces. From the lack of even basic needs to giving employment, we aim at uniting people by giving them facilities that they actually need. By utilizing the fund, you spend; we distribute a portion of it to the marginalized children and people around Nepal. At one hand, you enjoy the scenic journey to the Langtang region; on the other hand, you will be contributing to the people and helping them to survive. We start Langtang Valley Trek with the ride to Syabrubesi and trek from there. Along the way, we will visit the famous Kyangjin Gompa (3,880m), the native Tibetans and Sherpa villages as well as the lush Rhododendron and Oak forest. Similarly, you can also take a look at the oldest cheese factory in Kyanjin gompa. The beautiful Khyimsung glacier and the diverse vegetation are something to look out for. We also trek alongside the Langtang River to the east until Kyangjin Gompa. The trail is rocky at some point and may be hard to maneuver but overall the trek is far from difficult although the high altitude may pose some problem for the new comers.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
After your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will have briefed about the upcoming trek, all necessary information, and techniques regarding the trek. You can enjoy the evening and the night in Thamel or other places and enjoy the eccentric night life of the Capital.
Day 2: Kathmandu – Syabrubesi (1,550m)
Early morning breakfast and we drive north to Syabrubesi through the scenic routes. The landscape from the window is full of scenic beauty of the rural villages and mountains in the horizon. We will reach Syabrubesi where we stay overnight at a lodge. 8 hours of drive.
Day 3: Syabrubesi – Lama Hotel (2,560m)
We start our trek from this day. Passing through various local villages and with the view of the mountains at a distance, we enter the outskirts of the Langtang valley. The biodiversity in vegetation is something to look forward to. We reach Lama Hotel and stay overnight there. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.
Day 4: Lama Hotel – Langtang Village (3,430m)
After our breakfast, we start our trek up hills that opens up to the Langtang Valley. From here, the view of the majestic Langtang Lirung becomes more visible. After passing through the forests, we reach open grassland with pastures with yak and goats grazing. There are many chortens, Buddhist mani walls which add culture to nature. Reach Langtang village we stay for the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.
Day 5: Langtang Village – Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m)
This day brings us to one of the major attraction of this trek- the Kyanjin Gompa. We ascend up the hill to the village of Sindum and Yamphu. Through the rocky trails, we continue on with the quaint landscape of the mountains and hills. We can also see the icefall from Lirung and Kinshung. The panoramic view of the surrounding calls for some good pictures. We ascend further and reach Kyanjin Gompa where we stay for the night. 4 hours of walk. BLD included.
Day 6: Excursion to Kyanjin Ri
Instead of any trekking, we will hike around. We hike up Kyanjin Ri in the early morning with the highest elevation of the trek at 4,250m. From the top, we can enjoy the view of the great Himalayas. The panoramic view of the surrounding ice giants calls for some great deserved shots. After enjoying the view, we return back to Kyanjin Gompa for breakfast. We can enjoy the day here and see the rich lifestyle of the local people- their unique culture and religion. BLD included
Day 7: Kyanjin Gompa- Lama Hotel
After our breakfast, we will trek downhill to Lama Hotel. We will be using the same route where we came from. The view of the entire Langtang valley becomes more and more imminent and the mountains and hills show for some of the best nature has to offer. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.
Day 8: Lama Hotel – Syabrubesi
This is the last day of our trekking. Through the rocky trails and forests, we climb downhill to the village of Syabru Besi. Throughout the way, we will be accompanied by the beautiful hills, dense forests, and rich vegetation. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.
Day 9: Syabrubesi – Kathmandu
We drive back from Syabrubesi to the capital. First, we trek all the way to Dhunche. This includes passing through the dense forest. From Dhunche we drive back with the view of the mountains, villages and paddy fields and reach Kathmandu. You can either stroll around in the evening and enjoy the night life or probably just doze off from the long journey you completed.
Day 10: Departure
This is your last day with us. You will be transferred to the airport where you will probably have to wait there for your flight. Take that time to get nostalgic about one heck of a week you had.
